Keene Ice at 380 Marlborough Street is an existing big box warehouse, the portion between the Keene Department of Public
Works and the Police Department. It is a very long building and to date the architectural treatment has been a mix of understated at the DPW and overstated at the Police Department end. The Keene Ice facility is in the middle and we intend to find an architectural treatment that is a more appropriate and even keeled.
This design for the Keene Ice facade ‘mitigates’ between these two extremes, and sets a calmer municipal facade tone.
This Keene Ice rink proposal is a 40,000 SF full regulation size ice rink, 6 team locker rooms, viewing areas/future bleachers, two meeting rooms, a lounge and a pro shop. Special attention has been made to provide the most energy efficient building and a mechanical system that reclaims as much of its own energy ‘waste’ to utilize it fully in an integrated energy system.
